Bing Lui is a Chinese-American director and cinematographer. He is best known for his directorial work on the films All These Sons and Minding The Gap, the latter of which premiered at Sundance in 2018 and received the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Filmmaking. Minding The Gap was Liu’s debut feature, shot over 12 years since he was 14, and was called by A.O. Scott of the New York Times “a rich, devastating essay on race, class and manhood in 21st-century America.” The film has an 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was recently revealed that he will be adapting Ocean Vuong’s bestselling novel On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous into a feature film for A24.
