Internships + Professional Feedback

Internship

Students will gain hands-on experience and make real-world connections by obtaining internships in major media hubs such as Los Angeles, New York, Beijing, or Chicago. Internships are a required component of our program and students are in charge of securing an internship that matches their interests, with guidance provided by our EPICS office.

Previous internships have included: Kartemquin Films; Lucy Walker; Logo Documentary Films; Viacom; Lauren Greenfield; Cynthia Wade Productions; SBS Broadcasting TV, (Australia); Vice (China); Studs Terkel Archive (WFMT); Zhao Liang Film Studio; Seoul Broadcasting (South Korea); Ana Terra Athayde (Brazil).

Mentorship Board

During the second year of the program, students are paired with film industry professionals who are members of our newly formed Mentorship Board, who provide students with advice as they prepare for careers in the field of documentary media.

Industry Feedback

Recent alumni who submit a documentary (finished or fine-cut) within two years after graduation will have a chance to receive professional feedback from established Northwestern alumni or industry professionals.
